Ichiro Suzuki, 29, studied at the London College of Fashion, England

His collection – Tweedissimo Volume 2

“This is an ongoing collection called ‘Tweedissimo Volume 2.’ The word ‘-issimo’ is a comparative degree in Italian. For example, the work ‘fortissimo’ is Italian for stronger or louder.”

Ichiro says tweed has always been considered ideal for casual sporting jackets but does not receive the attention it deserves in menswear.

“In order to take tweed to the next notch, I have been keen to enhance and exploit tweed’s various possibilities to turn it into something completely different and unique.”

“I have looked back on history and the link between the stripe and the idea of diversity in the Middle Ages. For medieval culture, diversity always expresses something impure, aggressive, immoral, or deceitful. Abundant documentation also emphasises the demeaning, pejorative, or diabolic qualities of striped dress.”

The collection grasps a deep focus on tailoring and textile with attention to detail, mixing classic techniques with contemporary silhouettes. Scottish material, such as tweed and tartan, are used heavily.
