Charlie Ross, 25, studied at the Royal College of Art in London, England

Her collection – Charlie Ross A/W 2011

Her collection plays on the moral that to continue living the way we do will ultimately lead to our undoing. “Being fortunate enough to present my collection at the iD Dunedin Emerging Designer Awards, gives me the opportunity to promote ethical fashion, and prove that beautiful, ethical clothes do exist!”

“To see what is right and not to do it, is want of courage”. Confucius (551 B.C. - 479 B.C), The Analects: Book II, Chapter XXIV.

Imagine if the world finally succumbed to the pressures we put on it; if the apathy of mankind lead to the destruction of civilisation.  This collection embodies a new man, aware of this danger, and in line with the central theme of the collection and my ethic as a designer, all the fabrics and materials used in the collection are recycled, reclaimed, by-products or otherwise eco-friendly.
