Her collection – Heal the World
“My inspiration comes from the song by Michael Jackson. I was definitely touched by the lyrics: Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race.”
“The concept of this song is hoping people can use their love to create or make a better world. In this world, there is no hurt or sorrow and we cannot feel fear. Everyone loves each other in this peaceful world. So the concept of my collection is about the peace fighter. The role of them is helping people to create that world.”
“The slit with contrasting colour polyester ribbon in shocking pink represents the wound. The slit will show its colour when the models are walking on the runway. Moreover, the holes on the cuffs can become a pair of gloves which can give the feeling of the fighter.”
“The printing effect is one of the more important details of the whole collection. I’ve tried to put it on different fabrics, which have a different printing structure using the screen printing method. The surfaces of the print were not even because I printed them by hand. I intend to print this uneven effect because I want to tell people that everything cannot be perfect – we can strive for a better world, but not a perfect world.”
“For the colour story, I used white, different shades of grey (a natural colour) and shocking pink. The grey colours represent the bad things or problems. White colours represent the good things like peace, love and purity. Shocking pink represents wounds and blood.”
